Se qualcuno wears his teacher’s hat (veste il suo cappello da insegnante) allora si sta comportando come se fosse un insegante.
Per esempio: at the meeting she was wearing her teacher’s hat (all’incontro si è comportata come un insegnante)
L’espressione any teacher worth their salt (ogni insegnante che vale il suo sale) significa ‘ogni insegnante che sa fare il suo lavoro’.
Per esempio: any teacher worth their salt should know ho to deal with crying kids (ogni insegnante che sa fare il suo lavoro dovrebbe sapere come comportarsi con i bambini che piangono)
Il proverbio experience is the best teacher (l’esperienza è la migliore insegnante) sottolinea come il modo migliore per imparare sia provare e facendo esperienza.
Per esempio: you can’t learn to play chess from a book, experience is the best teacher (non si può imparare a giocare a scacchi da un libro, bisogna provarci)
Molto simile al precedente è experience is the teacher of fools (l’esperienza insegna agli stupidi), che invece sottolinea come sia importante imparare dagli errori commessi.
Per esempio: I’ve already done that mistake and experience is the teacher of fools (ho già fatto quell’errore e bisogna imparare dai propri errori)
