Brown named worst-dressed man

It’s one poll he probably doesn’t want to top – Gordon Brown has been named the worst-dressed man of the year.

Arctic Monkey Alex Turner, Take That, Bond star Daniel Craig, the Prince of Wales and even pint-sized Ronnie Corbett made it into GQ’s best-dressed list.

But Britain’s Prime Minister moved up the rankings from third worst-dressed last year to being the worst-dressed man in the 2010 poll, for being “anything but a prime example of British style”.

He was joined by one of his “best friends”, French president Nicolas Sarkozy, in third place, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il (eighth).

The magazine declared of heel-wearing Mr Sarkozy: “Perhaps the French president should spend less time worrying about his stature and more time worrying about his style.”

The worst-dressed list also includes funnyman Russell Brand (second), London Mayor Boris Johnson (fourth) for being “Charlie Chaplin… with a touch of Laurel and Hardy, more Hardy than Laurel” and the whole of the Top Gear team (fifth).

It is completed by Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan (sixth), the Match Of The Day team (seventh), Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell (ninth) and strip club boss Peter Stringfellow (10th).

Chat show host Jonathan Ross, who was the worst-dressed man of 2009, escaped the dreaded list this year.

Mr Brown’s political foe David Cameron secured a place as one of the top 10 best-dressed, in eighth place.

Others rated for their style include David Beckham (ninth), rapper Dizzee Rascal (10th), Jude Law (11th), David Walliams (13th), Sir Elton John (14th), Daniel Day-Lewis (15th), actor Michael Sheen (23rd), racing champion Jenson Button (24th), Bill Nighy (25th), The Wire stars Idris Elba and Dominic West (26th), and even Roald Dahl’s fictional creation Fantastic Mr Fox (fourth) “who may be voiced by George Clooney (in the recent film) but an otherwise more Anglo animal you would be hard pushed to imagine”.

E un sondaggio nel quale probabilmente non vuole primeggiare – Gordon Brown è stato nominato l’uomo dell’anno che veste peggio.

Alex Turner, i Take That, la stella di James Bond Daniel Craig, il Principe del Galles ed anche il corpulento Ronnie Corbett sono stati inseriti nella lista di GQ degli uomini più eleganti.

Ma il Primo Ministro di Gran Bretagna ha migliorato la sua classifica passando dal terzo al primo posto di uomo che veste peggio nel 2010, per essere “tutt’altro che un esempio di stile inglese”.

E stato raggiunto da uno dei suoi “migliori amici”, il presidente francese Nicolas Sarkozy, al terzo posto, ed il leader della Corea del Nord Kim Jong-Il (ottavo).

La rivista ha dichiarato riguardo a Sarkozy che indossa i tacchi: “Forse il presidente francese dovrebbe sprecare meno tempo a preoccuparsi della sua statura e più tempo a preoccuparsi del suo stile”.

La lista dei vestiti peggio include anche il comico Russell Brand (secondo), il sindaco di Londra Boris Johnson (quarto) per essere “Charlie Chaplin.. con un tocco di Stanlio e Ollio, più Stanlio che Ollio” a tutta la squadra di Top Gear (quinta).

E completata dal giudice di Britain’s Got Talent, Piers Morgan, la squadra di Match Of The Day(settima), il presentatore di Razorlight, Johnny Borrell (non) ed il proprietario del locale di spogliarelli Peter Stringfellow (decimo).

Il presentatore Jonathan Ross, che era stato il peggio vestito del 2009, quest’anno è riuscito a fuggire dalla temuta lista.

Il nemico politico di Brown David Cameron si è invece assicurato l’ottavo posto nella calssifica degli uomini più eleganti.

Altri votati per la loro eleganza includono David Beckham (nono), il rapper Dizzee Rascal (decimo), Jude Law (undicesimo), David Walliams (tredicesimo), Sir Elton John (quattordicesimo), Daniel Day-Lewis (quindicesimo), l’attore Michael Sheen (ventitreesimo), il campione di corsa Jenson Button (ventiquattresimo), Bill Nighy (venticinquesimo), Idris Elba e Dominic West (26th), ed anche il presonaggio inventato da Roald Dahl, Fantastic Mr Fox (quarto) “che può anche avere la voce di George Clooney (nel film recente) ma è estremamente difficile immaginare un animale più inglese di lui”.

Ogni giorno, quando navighiamo su internet, leggiamo dozzine,centinaia di parole in lingua inglese che a volte diamo per scontate, ma di cui non sempre conosciamo il vero significato.
In questo articolo proverò a spiegare le più comuni, quelle che fanno parte di un vocabolario minimo essenziale di sopravvivenza dell’internauta.
La parola Web è sicuramente tra le più diffuse, anche perchè rientra nell’acronimo WWW (world wide web – ragnatele grande come il mondo) e letteralmente significa ‘ragnatela’.
Infatti internet può essere visto come una ragnatela di computers, tutti comunicanti e connessi tra di loro: ogni volta che il vostro computer si connette ad internet diventa un nodo di questa immensa ragnatela.
Se invece vogliamo riferirci a quella prodotta dai ragni gli inglesi parlano specificatamente di ’spiderweb’.
Anche la stessa parola ’spider’ ha un significato informatico del tutto particolare infatti è tramite programmi chiamati ’spiders’ che i motori di ricerca (come google, yahoo e molti altri) trovano i risultati per le ricerche che noi facciamo.
Possiamo così immaginare internet come una enorme ragnatela di computers percorsa da velocissimi e minuscoli ragni che portano informazioni e notizie lungo di essa: ma nientre paura.. non mordono!

In this article i’ll try to explain the most common ones, the ones that represent a mimimum vocabulary for the cybernaut.
The word ‘web’ is surely one of the most diffused, because is inside the acronym www (world wide web) and literally means ‘web’.

Infact the internet can be seen as a spiderweb made of computers, all connected and communicating with each other: every time you connect to the internet your computer is turned into a node of this big web.
If on the other hand we refer to the web made by the spiders, the english use the word ’spiderweb’.

The very word ’spider’ has a peculiar technical meaning, it is infact using programs called ’spiders’ that the search engines (like google, yahoo and many others) find the results for our queries.

We can therefore imagine internet as a big web made of computers, where tiny and fast spiders run carrying around informations: don’t worry… they don’t bite.
