Carlo Ancelotti does not believe the media spotlight on John Terry will have any bearing on Chelsea’s title bid.

Terry was on duty on Tuesday night for the second time since a series of allegations into his private life broke, and captained the Blues to a disappointing 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened Hull.

“Nothing can disturb our concentration in this competition,” said Ancelotti, whose side nudged their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League to two points at the KC Stadium. “I think that Chelsea are focused for every game.”

He added: “Sometimes we play good football and sometimes we have more difficulty but the concentration is always on top.

“The atmosphere in the team is the same. No change.”

When asked whether Terry would be granted a leave of absence when Chelsea meet Cardiff in the FA Cup on February 13, the Italian answered: “If he needs a holiday I will give him a holiday. If he doesn’t need a holiday then he will play against Cardiff. You will see the line-up then.

“It is an issue for me and John Terry; it is not your problem, I think.

“For him nothing has changed. He has played a very good game and every game he is leading very well. He is doing his best every game.”

Fresh snow falling across UK to bring more disruption

Google employees roadtest its ‘Nexus One’ touchscreen smartphone as internet giant prepares to take on iPhone

Google is to launch its own branded mobile available direct to customers to take on the iPhone.

Dubbed the Nexus One, the Android smartphone will be the search engine’s attempt to make headway in the lucrative market.

Employees have been given a handset for testing, according to technology blogs.

The device has a touch screen like Apple’s iPhone and users can search the web by speaking search terms into it.

It has been built with Taiwan-based manufacturer HTC and could go on sale next year over the internet.

The move would mean bypassing mobile phone networks in favour of selling the unlocked phone itself online.

However, customers would still need to have a contract or pay-as-you-go agreement to use the device’s ordinary phone functions.

Ben Schachter, an analyst at San Francisco-based Broadpoint AmTech Inc, said: ‘If all of a sudden everyone is getting on the internet via their mobile device, Google needs to make sure it has an influence on that.

‘They need to make sure they have influence on how the mobile web will develop.’

Google’s Android phones have won attention in the mobile industry lately, with Motorola and Sony Ericsson choosing to launch it with their new top models.

Analysts say the aim is to gain access to valuable consumer data that can be used to sell ads at premium prices, rather than to make money from direct hardware sales, as companies such as Nokia or Research in Motion do.

Google said that it had given out handsets for staff to test, so they could ‘experiment with new mobile features and capabilities’ and give quick feedback on the new technology.

Ten worst rail stations to get £50 million

The 10 worst train stations in Britain are set to undergo a 50 million pound makeover, the government said on Tuesday.

They were identified in a report by “Station Champions” who had travelled the country to see where urgent action was needed.

They found the worst stations were: Clapham Junction, Barking, Stockport, Manchester Victoria, Preston, Wigan North Western, Liverpool Central, Warrington Bank Quay, Crewe and Luton.

“While touring the rail network in April this year, I was struck by the great variation in the passenger facilities at stations,” said Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis.

“Train travel has improved a good deal in recent years, but more needs to be done to improve conditions and services for passengers at stations.”

Last week, Network Rail said more than 3 billion pounds would be spent over the next five years to improve thousands of stations with new information systems, toilets, better lighting, and refurbished ticket halls.

Adonis said he agreed with the Champions’ recommendation that there should be a minimum standard for all stations on issues such as providing information and car and bike parking facilities.

“Stations are deeply entwined with their local community and effectively act as the gateway to both town and railway,” the Station Champions’ report said.

“They leave passengers with their lasting impressions of both — a dilapidated station is bad business for both town and railway.”

Anthony Smith, chief executive of watchdog Passenger Focus, said passengers at small stations had waited too long for access to information about services.

“Passengers standing on windswept platforms across Britain should be able to find out if their train is coming or not,” he said.

“There are all too many stations that do not have any real-time information and in the 21st century this is outrageous.”

The watchdog said passenger satisfaction was heavily dependent on station size, with those using small, unstaffed stations the most unhappy.

“Le stazioni sono profondamente legate alla comunità locale e sono la porta d’ingresso per la città e per la ferrovia” dice il rapporto dei Difensori delle Stazioni.

“Lasciano ai passeggeri impressioni durature – una stazione cadente è un brutto affare sia per la città che per le ferrovie”

Anthony Smith, presidente dell’Osservatorio sui Passeggersi, ha detto che i passeggeri delle stazioni minori hanno aspettato troppo a lungo per accedere alle informazioni che riguardano i servizi.

“I passeggeri britannici che attendono su piattaforme sferzate dal sferzate dal vento dovrebbero essere in grado di scoprire se il loro treno arriverà o meno” ha detto.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s rant masks Manchester United’s deficiencies.

Sir Alex Ferguson raged against refereeing decisions, again, after the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea. Was he justified?

On this occasion, he probably was. There were four or five instances when Manchester United could have been given the benefit of the doubt by Martin Atkinson, but all of the decisions went in favour of Chelsea. Did Darren Fletcher foul Ashley Cole? Possibly not. Did Didier Drogba grab at Wes Brown? Maybe. Was Drogba offside and interfering with play? Perhaps.

So Ferguson, for once, had good cause to rant?

Yes. Whatever you think of his history in this respect – and, of course, people have heard it all before many times – it was deeply frustrating for him. He was entitled to be aggrieved, he was entitled to feel a huge sense of injustice. United may have had matters go their way in many games over the years, but not on Sunday.

Still, isn’t it all becoming a bit tiring?

Yes, it has reached the stage where Sir Alex must be sick of criticising referees. The public, the officials and the FA must be sick of it, too. It does, though, illustrate his huge and enduring passion for the game, even though, at times, this can spill over into an unedifying tirade at the match officials.

It appears that the FA will let him off on this one?

It’s not surprising. He did not slaughter Atkinson, his comments never got personal or cast doubts over the integrity of the referee. When Ferguson laid into Alan Wiley and questioned his fitness, he went over the top. The charge of improper conduct was deserved.

Is not all this ranting just a way of masking United’s deficiences?

Ferguson can be clever like that. Over the seasons, a United defeat or poor display has often been followed by an outburst at the referee. He likes to deflect the issue, keeping his real thoughts for the dressing-room and training ground. He is the master at that and, because of it, gains the respect of his players. On Sunday, United played reasonably well. Ferguson’s dismay was genuine and justified.

But are United playing well?

Not badly, but there is a distinct lack of penetration, which was half-expected once Cristiano Ronaldo left. A total of 23 goals in 12 matches is OK but United still lag way behind Chelsea and Arsenal in the goalscoring stakes. They have to up that significantly … and quickly.

Is the five-point gap to Chelsea worrying?

Only marginally. It’s not insurmountable by any means. United will continue to pick up victories but it would nice to see them back to their scintillating best. “Winning ugly” just doesn’t suit them.

Sir Alex Ferguson si è arrabbiato contro le decisioni arbitrali, ancora, dopo la sconfitta per 1-0 contro il Chelsea. Era giustificabile?

In questa occasione probabilmente lo era. Ci sono stati 4 o 5 episodi quando al Manchester avrebbe potuto essere dato il beneficio del dubbio da Martin Arkinson, ma tutte le decisioni sono andate in favore del Chelsea. Darren Fletcher ha commesso fallo su Ashley Cole? Probabilmente no. Didier Drogba si è aggrappato a Wes Brown? Forse. Drogba era in fuorigioco ed interferiva con lazione? Forse.

Così per una volta Ferguson ha ragione ad inveire?

Si. Qualsiasi cosa si pensi dei suoi precedenti al riguardo – e ovviamente la gente ne ha già sentite molte di storie simili – è stato molto frustrante per lui. Aveva ragione a risentirsi, aveva ragione a provare un gran senso di ingiustizia. Lo United può avere avuto decisioni favorevoli negli anni passati, ma non domenica.

Non sta diventando comunque un pò eccessivo?

Si, ha raggiunto il punto in cui Sir Alex deve sentirsi nauseato di criticare gli arbitri. Anche il pubblico, gli arbitri e la Federazione devono esserne stufi.
Comunque ciò dimostra la sua enorme e perdurante passione per il gioco, anche se, a volte, questo può sconfinare in pesanti filippiche agli arbitri.

Sembra che la federazione non lo punirà per questo?

Non mi sorprende. Non ha massacrato Atkinson, i suoi commenti non sono stati personali e non hanno messo in dubbio l’integrità dell’arbitro. Quando Ferguson si è abbattuto su Alan Wiley ed ha messo in dubbio la sua forma, ha esagerato. Quella volta l’accusa di cattiva condotta era meritata.

Tutto questo inveire non è un modo per nascondere le deficienze del Manchester United?

Potrebbe anche essere una mossa di Ferguson. In altre stagioni, una sconfitta o una brutta prestazione dello United è stato spesso seguito da uno scoppio contro l’arbitro. A lui piace deviare la questione, e tenere le sue vere opinioni per lo spogliatoio e per il campo di allenamento. Domenica, lo United ha giocato regionevolmente bene. Lo sgomento di Ferguson era genuino e giustificabile.

Ma lo United sta giocando bene?

Non male, ma c’è una precisa difficoltà a segnare, che ci si poteva aspettare dopo che Cristiano Ronaldo se ne è andato. 23 goals in totale su 12 partite va bene ma lo United sta molto indietro rispetto al Chelsea e all’Arsenal a quesot riguardo. Devono migliorare significativamente .. e velocemente.

E preoccupante la differenza di 5 punti col Chelsea?

Solo marginalmente. Non è assolutamente insormontabile. Lo United continuerà a vincere ma sarebbe bello vederli tornare al loro meglio. “Vincere giocando male” non sembra fare per loro.

Beatles Music Now Available In Digital Format On USB

Music enthusiasts can now have a chance at savouring their favourite Beatles music in digital format, with their collection of 14 studio albums being made available on a USB drive from the official Beatles store.

The music will be available in an apple shape USB pen drive and it will feature the tracks in 320Kbps MP3 high quality format along with 24 bit FLAC format.

The drive which goes on sale on 7th December, which incidentally is priced at £200, will also include artwork and 13 mini documentaries which will allow fans to relieve the nostalgic moments associated with the fab four.

Only 30,000 units of the limited edition USB drives will be made available for purchase and interested buyers would have to get themselves registered with the official Beatles store to get a chance at purchasing the drive.

It is interesting to note that the music from The Beatles is officially not available at any major online music store including iTunes and the only place where it is available is Bluebeat.com in the US which is termed by many as a case of unauthorised sale and it may soon face legal action from record label EMI.

La pennetta che sarà in vendita dal 7 dicembre, che a proposito ha un prezzo di 200 sterline, includerà anche delle stampe e 13 mini documentari che permetterannno ai fans di liberare la nostalgia associata ai fantastici quattro.

Solo 30.000 copie delle pennette in edizione limitata saranno disponibili per l’acquisto e chi è interessato a comprarle dovrà registrarsi con il negozio ufficiale dei Beatles per averne la possibilità.

E interessante notare come la musica dei Beatles non sia ufficialmente disponibile in nessun negozio online, compreso Itunes, e l’unico posto dove trovarla è il sito Bluebeat.com, in America, che è stato da molti definito un caso di vendita illegale e potrebbe presto essere denunciato dalla etichetta discografica EMI.

Miss Frank voted out of X Factor

Girl group Miss Frank have become the latest act to be booted off ITV1 talent show The X Factor.

The London trio found themselves in the sing-off against hotly-tipped solo artist Danyl Johnson after receiving the fewest votes from viewers.

But after the judges failed to agree on which act to save, it was decided on the result of the original vote.

Mentor Louis Walsh said of his group: “They’ve got an awful lot more to give, they were at their best last night.”

‘A total joke’

In the sing-off, Miss Frank – student Graziella Affinita, 25, hairdresser Shaniece Davis, 21, and recruitment consultant Shar Alexandra, 25 – performed Rose Royce’s Love Don’t Live Here Any More while Johnson sang his original audition song, With A Little Help From My Friends.

After Johnson’s rendition Simon Cowell said: “I’ve never been so surprised in my life.

“If this is your last performance, I’ve never heard someone going out on such a high. I think it’s a joke that you’re in the position you’re in, a total joke.”

On hearing their X Factor journey was over, Affinita said the group still planned to stay together.

Meanwhile, the X Factor finalists are set to release a cover of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone to raise money for London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Il gruppo di ragazze Miss Frank è diventato l’ultimo ad essere scacciato via da X-Factor, il talent show di ITV1.

Il trio londinese si è trovato nella eliminatoria contro il favorito solista Danyl Johnson dopo avere ricevuto minori voti di tutti dagli spettatori.

Ma dopo che i giurati non si sono messi d’accordo su chi salvare, la decisione è stata presa sul voto originale.

Il mentore Louis Walsh ha detto del suo gruppo: “Hanno moltissimo di più da dare, ieri sera erano al massimo”

‘Uno scherzo totale’

Nella eliminatoria, le Miss Frank – la studentessa Graziella Affinita, 25 anni, la parrucchiera Shaniece Davis, 21 anni, e la consulente del lavoro Shar Alexandra, 25 anni – hanno cantato Love Don’t Live Here Any More di Rose Royce mentre Johnson ha cantato la canzone della sua prima audizione, With A Little Help From My Friends.

Dopo l’interpretazione di Johnson, Simon Cowell ha detto “Non sono mai stato così sorpreso in vita mia”

“Se questa è la vostra ultima esibizione, non ho mai sentito nessuno andarsene con tanto successo. Penso che sia uno scherzo che voi siate nella vostra attuale posizione, uno scherzo totale”

Quando ha scoperto che la loro avventura a X-Factor era finita, Affinita ha detto che il gruppo ha in piano di stare ancora assieme.

Nel frattempo, i finalisti di X-Factor devono registrare una cover di You Are Not Alone di Michael Jackson per raccogliere soldi per l’ospedale Great Ormond Street di Londra.

Si esibiranno con la nuova canzone per la prima volta durante lo spettacolo della settimana prossima.
