Povera Carla!

Carla Bruni’s sickly Sarko serenade

How can the world leaders gathered in Japan for the G8 keep a straight face? I don’t mean that they should be contorted with shame because of their double dealings on climate change or aid to the developing world.

.
No, I’m talking about an issue with true international resonance: Carla Bruni’s lyrics. The French first lady’s album, in which she sings of her romance with the dapper if diminutive Premier, was unleashed online today. The words include: “Let them curse me, I don’t give a damn. I couldn’t care less, I take all the blame I who made men dance/I give myself to you entirely”

I only hope no one listened to it having just partaken of an eight-course banquet. How could the assembled dignitaries stand shoulder to shoulder with Sarko and not be incapacitated by mirth, or nausea?
