Un dialogo in inglese per imparare l'espressione kick in (avere un effetto,reagire)

Il verbo kick in, che letteralmente può essere tradotto alla lettera con ‘calciare dentro’, in realtà significa avere un effetto, oppure reagire.
Vediamo un dialogo di esempio in inglese in cui viene utilizzato.

John: did you hear about the new law?
Robert: no, what’s it all about?
John: the government is going to change the bankruptcy law
Robert: really?
John: the new law is going to have huge consequences once it kicks in next year
Robert: then we should be worried!
John: hai sentito della nuova legge?
Robert: no, cosa riguarda?
John: il governo sta per cambiare la legge sulla bancarotta
Robert: veramente?
John: la nuova legge avrà ampie conseguenze quando avrà effetto l’anno prossimo
Robert: allora dovremmo essere preoccupati!
