Google Street View: new mapping scheme captures man three times.
A man who logged on to Google Street View to look at his home town was surprised to discover he had been photographed in three different locations.

Bill Baldry, 63, a retired Met Office weatherman, was delivering newsletters on the day the Google car arrived to film every street in his home village.

.
Mr Baldry, who lives near Stowmarket, Suffolk said: “It seems I have the dubious distinction of appearing three times on the site which must be an extraordinary coincidence.

“I hate to think what the odds must be but they must be pretty high. Looking back I can recall the day it happened last Spring but at the time I had no idea what the camera car was doing.

.
“I was out delivering the local gardening club magazine and just going around the village putting copies through letterboxes when I saw a strange-looking car.

“Then when the site was launched last week I decided to have a look at the village out of curiosity – and found that I had been photographed three times in three different locations.”

.
Street View was launched nationwide last week after Google captured images of more than 95% of the roads in the UK with images of several million homes.

.
The camera cars toured almost a quarter of a million miles but there has been criticism from some communities about an invasion of their privacy and fears it could aid would-be burglars.

But the company insist that the camera only captures what anyone passing a property would see, and if asked they will remove individual properties from the site.
